[With all that's happened, Shinji is a balm. Kaworu had wanted so much to avoid him, to avoid failure, but he's given in, and look at him now... It feels good, better than he deserves. He huffs half a laugh and leans in, but it's to feather his lips against Shinji's forehead. This isn't even really a kiss; he's just resting. Mouth still a soft press, he murmurs,] Thank you for inviting me in.

<sub>[At first there's a sudden excitement, a quick skip of his heartbeat when Kaworu shifts. He thinks he's going to kiss him, that he's going to lean in and their lips are going to connect-

But they don't. There's disappointment that he can't help but feel when Kaworu rests his lips against his forehead. He shouldn't be disappointed...but he is. He can't help it. Disappointment breeds embarrassment and soon enough Shinji is ducking down to tuck his face into the crook of Kaworu's neck, cheeks hot and ashamed. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he be content with just this?

Fingers grip the fabric of Kaworu's shirt as he stays close. At least he can have this.]</sub>

[Shinji's disappointment goes, of course, unnoticed. If Kaworu could see his friend's expression, he'd question it, but right now he doesn't have a clue. All he knows is that Shinji's tucking close. And at least Kaworu moves to wrap Shinji up gently, arms now loose around a brittle frame.]

Am I welcome to stay here for a little while, then? With you?

_{[It's a question Shinji thinks Kaworu should already know the answer to. Why is he even asking?]}

[It is nice. It's comfortable. After leaving Black Box, Kaworu had told himself, Don't intrude. But now they're tucked in close to each other, and Kaworu's cheek is against Shinji's hair.]

_{[He's pink when he pulls back to look at Kaworu, but he does so anyway despite his flushed face.]}

[So he takes the opportunity to take one of his hands from the curve of Shinji's back, and be brings it once again to Shinji's face. This time, though, it's just his fingertips. He first touches Shinji's nose, the bridge and then the tip, but it doesn't have time to be a cute gesture, because now he's brushing the dip of Shinji's philtrum; he's outlining and then filling in the chapped color of Shinji's lips. His fingers linger there, and then rise away, to his friend's brow; he touches all across, thumbs away the remnants of any creases.

He looks like he's crafting something, though he does not create art, but venerates it.]

<sub>[Shinji lets him touch and trace where he wishes, fingers sliding over skin, as if to memorize and remember every little detail. It's not a lewd gesture by any means, but there's a small part of Shinji, in the back of his head that twists it into something else. His lips feel dry as he lays there, staring back at Kaworu, cheeks dusted pink. The longer he lets Kaworu's fingers stray, the more he can feel a heat from the tips of his toes rise up toward his face.

He reaches with his own hand to snag those wayward fingers, swallowing quietly as he draws them down toward his lips to press them against them. It's a kiss, a little one - that's all he can allow it to be - even though part of him wants to part his lips and slide a tongue against one of Kaworu's slender digits. He doesn't though, too self conscious for such an inappropriate act, instead averting his eyes, long lashes heavy as he stares at Kaworu's shoulder instead.]</sub>

[Kaworu isn't clueless, he's just gone so long... without. Right now he touches Shinji because he spent so much time unable to. When he was younger, lust was more present; he was even lascivious, really compelled by the things that bodies could do. Now that time has passed, sex just isn't an issue for him. He's had bigger things to think about.

But he isn't clueless.]

You seem shy. [His fingers curl against Shinji's, a knuckle to Shinji's mouth.] But you've gotten to where you seek contact, now. Does that feel good?
